 FAQs

  • DOG DAYCARE:Dogs don’t need much when they come for daycare. Themselves and their leash will suffice just fine. If you would like your dog to have breakfast, lunch or dinner with us, please specify so in the reservation and bring your regular dog food with. We can also store food here for your pet if they are a daycare regular. Food and water bowls are not necessary.

DOG BOARDING:Be sure NOT to change your dogs food while they board. The food, as well as the eating schedule they have at home, should be maintained while they stay with us. You are absolutely welcome to bring their bed, a favorite toy, or anything you feel will relax them if they should get homesick. Feeding instructions should be uploaded to your file when you book your reservation. A complimentary bath is given after the 5th boarding day. Food and water bowls are not necessary.

CAT BOARDING:Unless your cat has an allergy we will provide all the litter your cat will need. All you need to pack for kitty if their usual food and treats. Food and water bowls are not necessary.

SMALL MAMMALS:Please provide any bedding needed for your small mammal or exotic pet. This may include fluff, straw, hay, newspaper, etc. In addition please provide their usual food as well as specific feeding and handling instructions. If they have food and water dishes, please label and bring them as well.

  • DOGS: Having your dog visit for daycare as often as possible prior to their boarding is always a suggested best practice. The more time they have to get comfortable and build trust with the staff and a new routine, the easier their boarding stay will be for them.

In addition, give yourself a pep talk the night before. Remember to keep your energy calm and confident so that your dog will reflect that same behavior. If you are scared and nervous it will be harder on your dog to let go ad smoothly transition into our care. We love animals! We hug them, we listen to their needs, we know how they communicate and we are listening! They WILL be in the BEST hands. We cry at every dog movie just like you.

CATS: Cats are welcome to come out of their carriers at their own pace. Lining the carrier with a blanket from home can help give cats a safe place that they can come if they feel anxious. Unlike dogs, if a cat wishes to be more left alone they will not be bothered. On the other hand, if your cat is outgoing there are posts, nooks, and toys to keep them busy. Our house cats also make amazing new Furever Friends for your kitty if they should feel social.

  • BOTH! Dogs have the option of a private kennel or to stay in our free roaming rooms. Our evaluation process is a 3 step process including, an initial 4 hour evaluation, followed by two 6+ hour daycare visits. This allows us to evaluate how your pet will handle his/her self with a variety of different dogs and humans. It is extremely important that we establish the temperament of all new dogs to ensure the safety of all our guests. It is our hope that your dog feels at home here and is able to stay out with friends and casually lounge outside in the grass or inside on a couch or cot.

  • ABSOLUTELY! We have had many pets come and stay with us that have special needs. We welcome puppies and kittens, elderly, blind, def or handicapped pets, or even exotic pets. We can also administer medications for a small daily fee if needed as many of the Furever Staff used to be vet techs.

  • While we completely understand that it can be emotionally difficult to give away control of your pet, for their safety we ask that you kindly allow the pet to be dropped off and stay alone in the rooms. You are welcome to tour the facility prior to booking any reservations, but dogs tend to display different behavior without the owner present. The dogs will bond with the staff much faster, not get protective of you, and start to learn socialization and independence. We will be happy to send you text or email updates on how your fur-baby is doing.

  • Not to worry! In the rare event something does happen that would require veterinary treatment, we would first contact you. We will transport your pet to your vet and get them any treatment needed. We would be sure to keep you informed every step of the way. We would also take great care in adhering to follow up instructions from the vet. If you have no veterinary preference or we cannot reach you, we will always default care to Dr. Obara of the Kalihi Pet Clinic.
